Dewey’s Gabby Higbee Named 2021 Shelter Insurance Miss Softball Oklahoma

Dewey High School’s Gabby Higbee is the 2021 Shelter Insurance Miss Softball Oklahoma award winner. Higbee posted incredible numbers this season while leading Dewey to the Class 3A semifinals in the state tournament.

On the season, Higbee batted .562 with 59 hits, 10 homeruns and 29 RBIs. The senior hit 20 doubles and five triples with 14 base-on-balls. She accounted for 60 runs and carried a .617 OBP with a 1.750 OPS. Higbee also added 36 stolen bases. The outfielder held a fielding percentage of .978.

Higbee is committed to play softball at the University of Tulsa next fall. Dewey head coach Nicole Keck said Higbee is a great athlete and leader for Dewey.

“She knows how to hold herself and her teammates accountable on the field and in the classroom. She showed up every day and worked in her top gear, leading by example during every practice. Her softball IQ is very high, as she has been a student of the game from a young age. I believe her hustle, base stealing ability, and her softball IQ were all determining factors in her receiving a great offer from the University of Tulsa and making the Class 3A All-State Middle East team,” said coach Keck.

Higbee joins previous Miss Softball Oklahoma winners, Kenzie Donihoo of Mustang (2018), Chloe Bohuslavicky of Piedmont (2019), and Grace Anderson of Tishomingo (2020).

The other finalist this year included Cassie Passwaters of Mustang, Brinly Maples of Southmoore, Madi Drummond of Owasso, Tori Miller of Harrah, and Chloe Yeatts of Lone Grove.

Congratulations to Gabby Higbee of Dewey High School for winning the 2021 Shelter Insurance Miss Softball Oklahoma award.
