Salina’s Treyton Bailey – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Northeast Tech

By Derrick Smith

Northeast Tech does a great job of preparing high school students for life after they graduate. No matter what program they decide to enter, when they leave the campus they will have tools that will help them as they work for their life goals.

Treyton Bailey attends the Pryor Campus of Northeast Tech and says he first heard about it from a family member.

“My uncle Blake went to Tech when he was younger,” he said. “He told me how much money I could make so I decided to go into the Electrical program. When I am finished, I would like to get a job in the electrical field and get on at the fire station in Muskogee.”

Bailey has enjoyed the time he has spent at Northeast Tech and would encourage others to check it out too.

“It’s a great choice and it will help set you up for life,” he said. “I am learning what I need to know and they are also helping me learn how to be successful.”

Treyton is a junior at Salina High School. He is a dual-sport athlete for the Wildcats, playing wide receiver and cornerback for the football team and pitcher and center field in baseball.

During his career, Treyton has had a number of people who have made an impact on him both as an athlete and a person. But he says that there are a couple of people who have had the biggest impact.

“My mom and dad are my biggest role models,” he said. “They have worked hard for all the things that they have and they have taught me respect and how to be a great man.”

Bailey has put in a lot of work and time in order to get where he is. He says that the most important part of being successful is doing everything you can.

“I have put in a lot of practice over my career,” he said. “And it is more than just the organized team practices. You also have to put in extra time when you are on your own to work on things that you need to get better at.”
