Grove’s Jase McAbee – Athlete Spotlight Presented by TH Rogers Lumber Company

Jase McAbee is a sophomore at Grove High School where he plays right wing back on the soccer field, runs cross country and track, and is a part of the school broadcasting team. To say he keeps a busy schedule is an understatement.

McAbee has played soccer for 12 years. He first became interested in the sport because his older brother played, and he wanted to join in the fun.

“My older brother was a role model for me throughout my life, being the one to introduce me to soccer and the other sports and activities I enjoy playing,” he said.

Of the many years McAbee has been on the pitch, one of his favorite memories actually comes from an accomplishment at a younger age.

“My team getting first in my U-10 soccer league,” he recalled as a standout memory in his career.

McAbee is a team player for sure and says it is the “amazing people you meet and get to know on the team” that are the best part of being a high school athlete.

McAbee is motivated by his competitive nature, but that doesn’t hinder his sportsmanship. Head coach Joshua Martin attests that McAbee shows great character both on and off the field.

“I’m very competitive and love the sport, every second is fun, and I enjoy winning,” said McAbee.

After high school McAbee plans to continue his education in college and learn more about broadcasting and video editing.
