Claremore Football Preview: Defense – Presented by Keith Wagoner Shelter Insurance

Head Coach – Jarrett Hurt

2021: 2-8

The Zebras run a 4-4 defense with multiple looks and return three starters. Hurt is excited to see young up-comers get a chance to shine and contribute in 2022. Hurt wants to stop the run early and limit big play opportunities. Seth Bell (6-2, 215, Sr.) returns for his final season with the Zebras. Seth is the third Bell brother to suit up for the Zebras and has continued the family tradition. He has become a force on the defensive line and racked up 73 tackles and six sacks in 2021. Expect big things from Bell heading into his senior season. Josh Feliciano (So.) is an accomplished wrestler with super strength for a sophomore and can grow into a solid contributor off the line. Look for him to learn from the team’s veterans and grow his skill set throughout the year. Tate Hepler (5-10, 160) had 56 tackles and two interceptions in the defensive secondary in 2021. Linebacker Jesse Cagle (5-9, 195, Jr.) was a menace last year and led the Zebras in tackles with 111 while also picking up two sacks. He’s the type of player who has a nose for the ball, can cover the entire field, and seems to be everywhere at once.

9-2 – vs. Bartlesville

9-9 – at Oologah

9-16 – vs. Hilldale

9-22 – at Hale

9-30 – vs. Grove
