Kansas’ Josie Pollet – FFA Spotlight – Presented by OK Ag Credit

Kansas High School junior Josie Pollet is excited for the school year to get underway. Pollet is a student-athlete involved in softball, basketball and serves as the baseball team manager. She’s also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Student Council, all while being a member of her schools FFA chapter.

“I first got involved in FFA my freshman year of high school,” said Pollet. “My parents both work in the ag industry and encouraged me.”

There are many things about FFA Pollet enjoys.

“I enjoy meeting kids from other schools and building relationships with my fellow classmates,” said Pollet.

As a member of the chapter, Pollet said it was important for her to be involved in as many activities as she could fit into her schedule. She also serves as an officer for the Kansas chapter, and she has 60 head of cattle which takes up a lot of her time.

“I am mostly involved in the CDE activities but am also the Vice President of my school’s FFA chapter,” said Pollet.

Being in athletics has been special for Pollet as well.

“I love the memories I’ve made while being on the softball team. I also play basketball,” Pollet said. “My sports occupy too much of my time for proper animal care, so I do not show.”

Pollet said her parents have played a major role in supporting her in athletics and her efforts in FFA.

“My parents have been a big influence in my life. They always push me to do my best in everything I do and never give up when times get tough,” Pollet said. “I am a junior, and I plan on attending college and hopefully continuing my softball career at the next level.”

The junior offers this advice to anyone who wants to join FFA. “I would tell not to be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone. You never know what you could accomplish unless you do,” said Pollet.
