PLAYERS TO WATCH

Boys Basketball

Markeen Webb – Fairland

An outstanding player with a lot of skills that can take over in clutch time. He also shoots and handles the ball very well.

Hagen Hacker – Grove

Hagen is a hard worker, good leader, and gym rat who stays in the gym year-round. He can score at all three levels. He is a point guard who is strong and physical. He is a very coachable and a great kid to go along with it. 

Tanner Haijny – Miami

He is a great kid that will be a leader on the team this season. He is not afraid to put in work and be there for his teammates.

Paul Glasscock – Vinita

Paul is a point guard and shot 50% from the field, averaging 16 points per game. He also hauled in six rebounds per game and averaged three assists and three steals per game.

Girls Basketball

Emma Pigeon – Vinita

Emma is a returning starter. She is an outstanding shooter and defender. She does a lot of small things that do not show up in the stat book. She is athletic and plays bigger than she is. 

Lydia Armstrong – Welch

Lydia will be an important part of the Lady Wildcats’ success this season. She is a great kid and is a great example for the younger players.

Wrestling

Kaden Murray – Jay

Murray is a returning state runner-up in the 182-pound weight class. He is looking to build off of his 49-7 record from last year. 

UNDERCLASSMEN TO WATCH

Boys Basketball

Carson Schertz – Fairland

Carson is a very good player with size and athleticism that can dunk the ball as a freshman and shoot, as well as handle the ball.

Jackson Gain – Grove

A very athletic kid who is a menace on defense. And is a good rebounder. His offensive game is evolving and he is hard to keep off the offensive boards. 

Bodee Carter – Vinita

Bodee is a sophomore guard that has the potential to be a very good player for the Hornets over the next few years. He can handle the ball at the point guard spot. He can also move to the shooting guard spot for more scoring opportunities. 

Girls Basketball

Sara Hency – Vinita

Sara is a freshman post that can step out and play. She has a lot of potential and will have a big role this season. 

Cheyenne Vaughn – Welch

Vaughn does a great job of doing whatever needs to be done to help the team. She is not afraid of doing work.
