A three-sport student-athlete at Bluejacket High School, Gracelein Brewster also devotes plenty of her time to being a member of the FFA chapter at school. The senior said it was a teacher who encouraged her to join the program.
“It was my Ag teacher, Mr. Martin, who encouraged me to join. I wanted to show a goat and he said FFA is where I could do that.”
The animals are a big reason Brewster loves being part of the FFA chapter at school. She currently shows two goats while playing three sports. Brewster is a member of the fastpitch and slow-pitch softball teams as well as the varsity basketball team.
Outside of sports, Brewster is a member of the National Honor Society, FCCLA and the Bio Club.
Being part of FFA has taught Brewster a lot about her animals and introduced her to a lot of new people.
“It’s a lot of work if you want to show but it is definitely worth It because you get new relationships and also you become close to your animals,” said Brewster.
The senior said her parents have been big influences in her life.
“My parents support me no matter if they are fans of what I’m doing or not. They always push me to do my best. They are definitely the best parents anyone can ask for,” said Brewster.
After she graduates this spring, Brewster said she would like to attend cosmetology school.
“I would love to go into a barber school after receiving my cosmetology license,” said Brewster.
