BOYS
Coach: Steve Briggs
21-22 Record: 5-20
While last season did not go the way that head coach Steve Briggs and his team had hoped for, they are looking to use it as a learning experience to help them this season. Returning experience and depth should play a key role in the team’s success this year, according to Briggs. “We will have nine seniors this season that are working hard to have a successful season and capitalize on their last year playing high school basketball,” coach Briggs said. “We will go deep into our bench and play as hard as we can every night. I am praying we can stay healthy and surprise a few
people this season.” Jack Blair (5-10, Sr.) is a player that will have a big impact on the season. He is a great defender and an outstanding rebounding guard. He can
shoot the ball well and will be the hardest-working player every day. The duo of Eli Bond (6-4, Sr.) and Braiden Black (6-4, Sr.) will work together to lock things down near the basket. Bond has good size, is strong, can rebound, and finish well around the rim. He has a lot of potential to learn and grow and he’s willing and wants to.
Braiden is strong and does all of the little things inside and can also guard outside on a smaller guard. He is very physical and boxes out every single time and is decently skilled from the outside as well. Another key player for the Pirates this season is Kaden Walkingstick (6-0, Sr.). He is really quick, can shoot it, and plays as hard as anyone. Kaden is great in transition and finishes well with both hands even though he is a lefty. Team members that will look to make plays this season are Cayson King (5-11, So.), Jack Collier (5-9, Sr.), Kidman Fleming (6-1, Sr.), Peytin Schmitt (5-11, Sr.), Hazen Perkins (5-9, Sr.), and Lane Atchley (6-1, Sr.). Other players to watch out for are Jaquane Shamel (6-2, Jr.), Joye Kinion (6-2, Jr.), and Kaleb Gilman (6-2, Jr.)
