There is someone in every person’s life that shapes who they become.

It could be someone that is part of their everyday life, or it could be someone they watch from a distance like a celebrity or an athlete. Nevertheless, the impact that they make on a person’s life can be immeasurable.

Hunter Catlin is a student-athlete at Dewey High School and he says that his biggest role model is someone important in his life.

“My dad is the person I look up to the most,” Hunter said. “He is always consistent in what he does and doesn’t make excuses.”

A senior at Dewey, Hunter plays football and baseball for the Bulldoggers. He has worked hard to be the best athlete that he can be whenever he steps out on the field.

“Consistency is something that I see as a key to being successful,” he said. “You have also got to have a solid mentality. You need to keep a good attitude and stay positive. I am consistently motivated to be the best version of myself that I can be.”

Catlin has learned from many teachers throughout his education, but he says that there are a couple that stand out as his favorite.

“Mrs. Warehime and Ms. Griffith are my top two teachers,” he said. “They have consistently shown up for me and helped me out whenever I needed it.”

The teammates that Catlin is surrounded by have become a close group and he says that they work hard together, no matter who they are competing against.

“I have some great teammates,” he said. “Logan Alspach is one that I like to go up against the most at practice. He’s the most competitive person I know and that makes me work harder. Nowata is the team that we play that I enjoy beating the most, mainly because of the rivalry that is there between our schools.”

Being able to wear the Bulldogger uniform is something that is important to Hunter.

“It means a lot to be able to represent my school,” he said. “I have lived in Dewey my entire life. It is home.”
