9 Qs With Bartlesville’s Ava Kelly – Presented By Green Country Village

VYPE: What has it taken to be successful in your sports?
Ava: It has taken devoted time and practice to be successful in tennis. A good attitude is important at all times too but can be a struggle with nerves.

VYPE: What has been the highlight moment of your career?
Ava: A highlight moment of tennis this year has been beating Bixby with my doubles partner, Parker because it really shows our improvement as a team since last season.

VYPE: Is there an opponent that you enjoy beating the most?
Ava: So far there hasn’t really been a close opponent that we have consistently played this year.

VYPE: Which teammate do you enjoy working against the most in practice?
Ava: In practice this year, I enjoy working against Owen May and Will Bolding when playing doubles with Parker for the best practice. When practicing singles, I really enjoy playing with Abby Shelley.

VYPE: What does it mean to you to represent your school and community when you play?
Ava: I love playing for my school and representing it. My teammates are great and so are my coaches. I enjoy being able to play on a team that is full of positive players and coaches.

VYPE: What motivates you?
Ava: The thought that I can always do better motivates me to work harder.

VYPE: Who are some of your biggest influences or role models?
Ava: My parents are my biggest influences. They are always so supportive and encourage me to do my best.

VYPE: What teacher has had the biggest impact on your life?
Ava: Two of my coaches have greatly impacted my life. Brian Reese and Pat Ritchie. Both coaches have greatly affected not just my life in tennis but overall. They have taught me good sportsmanship and have just been positive role models.

VYPE: What clubs and campus activities are you involved with?
Ava: Other than tennis, I am involved in all honors core classes and one AP class. I also enjoy my current engineering class and plan to take it again next year.
