COLCORD HORNETS
Coach: RYAN KEENOM
13-1
OFFENSE
Head coach Ryan Keenom is in his first season at the helm of the Hornet football program, but he inherits a team that went 13-1 last season and made it to the Class A semifinals. He says that he hopes to carry on where they left off last year. “We return seven starters on both sides of the ball from last season,” Kennom said. “Expectations are extremely high. We have a very tough, hard-working team, that is looking to build off of the success Colcord has had in recent seasons.” Gabe Winfield (6-1, 180, Sr.) will be a force at quarterback. Last season he passed for 2,400 yards and 35 touchdowns, while also rushing for 1,036 yards and 22 touchdowns. Running back Cooper Mott (6-2, 210, Jr.) totaled 1,030 yards with 16 scores a year ago. The duo of Treyen Larmon (6-4, 210, Sr.) and Manuel Bocanegra (6-1, 160, Jr.) combined for 1,361 receiving yards and 21 touchdown receptions. An outstanding offensive lineman, Khaleeal Penn (6-2, 10, Jr.) will anchor the offensive line. Joining the team is Jackson Still (6-0, 175, Jr.), who transferred in from Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
DEFENSE
The Hornet will be led by a solid group of linebackers. Cade Linn (6-0, 205, Jr.), Mott, and Larmon combined for 398 tackles, 15 sacks, six tackles for loss, and six interceptions. Malachi January (5-11, 175, Jr.) and Winfield will monitor things in the secondary and keep the opposing wide receivers at bay. Last season, they totaled 165 tackles and four interceptions and will look to increase those numbers this season. Penn will try to cause problems on the defensive line.
