VYPE: What goals do you have for this year?
Emerson: Some goals I have for this year are: to really enjoy the time I have left to play and to compete every game regardless of who we play.
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
Emerson: My sport has taught me mental toughness, whether it is simple tasks in my everyday life or it is juggling the workload of being a student athlete. This sport is a game of failure and it has taught me how to properly respond to failure.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?
Emerson: My favorite teacher would be my 10th grade Medicine and Biosciences teacher, Mrs.East. She is always willing to help us regardless if it is schoolwork or not.
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
Emerson: I would say my parents inspire me because they continue to help me work through challenges and encourage me.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Emerson: My biggest teammate is Kylee Berry because she is a constant supporter and never changes her positive spirit regardless if she is in the game or not. She is always there to pick me up.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?
Emerson: My favorite part about being on a team is the bonds you create with your teammates that not only last for the time you are playing on the field but off the field as well.
VYPE: Who in your family is the best athlete? Explain.
Emerson: The best athlete in my family is probably my brother, Nash, because he plays all the sports he can year round. He is constantly putting in work at a practice whether it’s football, baseball, basketball, or track.
VYPE: What’s one sport you wish you could play that you don’t already play?
Emerson: I have always wanted to try hockey because the intensity of the sport seems awesome but it’s definitely never been an option living here haha!
VYPE: What’s your go-to pregame song?
Emerson: My go-to pregame song recently has been “Superstition” by Stevie Wonder.
