Bartlesville’s Chelsea Goddard – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Arvest Bank

by Trina Walker

Chelsea Goddard was six-years-old when she told her parents she wanted to play softball. Now a senior at Bartlesville High School, she is a student athlete proudly representing her high school and using theopportunity to be a good example for others.

Chelsea believes it is most important “to strive to be passionate and purposeful in every day life,” she says. “My sport has taught me how to work with others as a team. My favorite part about being on a team is getting to work with other people toward a common goal.”

She is passionate about her sport because softball has taught her many valuable skills and lessons;individually and as a team. Chelsea’s favorite memory of playing is traveling to the Norman tournaments each year. Not only is the tournament an opportunity to play ball against tough teams, it is a fun time to bond with her teammates.

Many important people on and off the softball field have influenced Chelsea. “The teammate that left the biggest impression on me is Erika Niko, because of her drive and passion to being a good teammate and leader. My favorite teacher is my math teacher, Mrs. Kramer, because of her compassion and kindness towards her students. My best friend inspires me because of her unconditional support and loyalty towards the people she loves.”

She hopes to someday travel overseas. Chelsea’s dream vacation is to visit Italy with her family and best friend. Until then, she looks forward to shorter trips to Tulsa for her favorite meal. “My favorite meal of all time is sweet and sour chicken and white rice from Roka in Tulsa, Oklahoma,”she said.

In addition to playing softball, Chelsea is involved in BHS National Honors Society and National Junior Honors Society at Tri County Tech.
