FFA Spotlight with Naomi Daugherty – Presented by Ok AgCredit

Quapaw High School’s Naomi Daugherty is a multi-sport athlete and a member of the FFA chapter at school.

Daugherty first got involved with FFA her freshman year, and despite not showing livestock, Daugherty is involved in many other activities.

“I am on the officer, the skeet and trap team, ag shop and I volunteer at the county fair. In the past I was involved in Agriscience and Quiz Bowl,” said Daugherty.

Thanks to a family member, Daugherty said she got involved with FFA after receiving some encouragement from someone very important in her life.

“My poppa encouraged me to join. He is a prime example of perseverance and hard work. He has shown me that no matter what happens in life, good or bad, you can always do a job to the best of your ability,” said Daugherty.

Now a senior, Daugherty plays basketball, fast and slow pitch softball, track and is a member of National Honor Society and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Competing this spring with the slow pitch team, Daugherty said she loves being around her teammates.

“My favorite thing about softball is the team, the girls that participate have not only become my friends, but my family. They are what makes this sport so special to me and they are one reason I have grown to love it so much. My other favorite thing about softball is playing first base, I love it!”

Daugherty said she has made a lot of great memories at Quapaw HS and she is looking forward to what’s next in life.

“I love the memories I’ve made with my officer team and the leadership opportunities. My plans after graduation are to attend Mission University in Springfield, Missouri to further my basketball career as well as my academic studies. I will be majoring in Health Science and Business management with an emphasis in biblical studies.”

Her advice to future FFA members?

“Always pay attention, because sometimes in FFA the best way to learn is by observation. And be willing to step out of your comfort zone so that you can reach your full potential,” said Daugherty.
