Bartlesville guard David Castillo receives praise from opposing coach after 22-point game at Broken Arrow – Presented by Hall of Fame Sponsor Keller Williams Bartlesville

By Bryce McKinnis

BROKEN ARROW — Bartlesville junior guard David Castillo led all scorers with 22 points despite facing double-teams most of a Tuesday night loss at Broken Arrow.

By now, the two-time gold medalist power-five prospect is far from an obscure in figure in the local basketball scene. Broken Arrow head coach Beau Wallace, who has known Castillo for some time, praised the junior guard after their Tuesday matchup.

“Obviously, he (Castillo) is a really good player. He going to do really good things,” Wallace said. “(We were) just trying to show bodies, just trying to show him different looks, different matchups, trying to put some length on him and make him shoot over the top of that and just make him work for every possession.

“I thought he did a really good job of just working to get points.”

The Bruins dealt Broken Arrow its first loss of last season, 57-56, before the Tigers went ahead to win nine of their next 10 games.

“Bartlesville came her last year and beat us. . . David and I, we go back, so he let me know, ‘Hey I’m finally going to get one on your court,'” Wallace said. ‘So I just wanted to make sure that didn’t happen again, and I let him know after the game (Tuesday), as well.”
