Bartlesville’s Cody Lay – Swim Spotlight – Presented by First Presbyterian Church

Cody Lay
Bartlesville High School
The swim team at Bartlesville High School continues to be one of the top programs in the state thanks to swimmers like Cody Lay. Lay is a senior this year and has competed in swim for 10 years. Lay will swim the 200 freestyle and the 500 freestyle for the Bruins.

“The team is looking amazing this year,” said Lay. “What I love about being a student-athlete at BHS is getting the chance to support the other sports as a team or can be a big boost for a team when one of the other sports comes to watch them.”

Lay said his teammates are great and everyone supports one another in and out of the pool.

“The bond I have with them [teammates] is what I love the most. Everyone is always supportive and welcoming of each other,” said Lay.

The senior said he also enjoys his classes at BHS with history being his favorite subject and Mr. Ayers is a favorite teacher. Setting goals for the team and himself keeps Lay looking forward while preparing for the next step.

“Hopefully to go to the Naval Academy and get a Marine Engineering degree. I also want to g et a junior nationals cut,” said Lay.

In his free time you can find Lay competing in rodeos and hiking.
