Maci Stapleton

Bartlesville High School

Bartlesville High School sophomore Maci Stapleton has competed in swimming for eight years. Competing as a swimmer with Bartlesville HS comes with some expectations. Stapleton said the team has worked hard this season and is looking forward to competing at state.

“The team so far is looking good. The girl’s team is bigger than the boys, but they are both expected to perform very well at state. Our team overall has worked incredibly hard this season, we are strong and confident in what we do,” said Stapleton.

This season Stapleton is swimming the 100 free and the 100 backstroke. Stapleton said representing BHS and her teammates is special thanks to the relationships she has built.

“What I love most about being a student-athlete at Bartlesville High School is the atmosphere my team creates. We all work hard, do our best, and encourage one another,” said Stapleton. “I love that my teammates and I are very close. When we have a rough practice or meet, or even a bad day at school, we always have each other to talk to.”

Also a member of National Honor Society, the sophomore said she has her favorites when it comes to the classroom.

“My favorite subject in school is History, I find it very interesting. I enjoy learning about the past and learning from it. My favorite teacher so far is probably Ms. Harper. She makes me laugh and creates a fun class environment,” said Stapleton.

This season has been filled with great moments. One of those moments came out of the water.

“My favorite memory so far this season was our team Christmas party. We had a gingerbread house building contest, and my team won! I had a great time with my friends,” said Stapleton.

As for life after high school, Stapleton said she is undecided on where she would like to attend college, but she is not too worried about it.

“As of now, I’m not sure yet what I want to do for college. I will continue to work hard and do my best. I know God has a plan for me,” said Stapleton.

In her free time, Stapleton said she enjoys spending time with friends and family. “I also like to just sit and relax while watching a movie.”
