Athletes put in a lot of work so that they can be at their best when game time comes around. And though there are times when it can get tough or they do not feel like putting in the time, they have to work hard to stay focused. Zeb Henry says that he keeps his eye on the big picture and that keeps him working hard.
“What motivates me to be my best is wanting to achieve the goals I have set for myself,” he said. “I want to make my younger self proud and make it to the highest level.”
Zeb is a senior at Bartlesville High School. After he graduates, Henry plans to attend Eastern Oklahoma State College to earn his degree and play baseball.
Baseball is a sport that Zeb loves to play and has played for most of his life. He has also made a lot of great memories during that time but there is one that stands out as his favorite.
“I have been playing baseball for fifteen years,” he said. “I have always grown up wanting to play and I love the everyday challenge. My favorite memory of competing in high school was beating Owasso this year in a blowout win.”
Cody Price is the head coach of the Bruins baseball team. He says that Zeb is a solid athlete on the field and a great person off the field.
“Zeb is a switch-hitting short who also throws for us,” he said. “He has been a four-year starter and has committed to play baseball at Eastern Oklahoma State University. He is a great player and an even better kid.”
Throughout his life and career, Henry has had a number of people that have played a role in his life and helped shape him into the person that he is today.
“I look up to my parents, especially my dad,” Zeb said. “He has shown me how to be a young man and I hope one day I can be as good of a role model for someone else like he was for me. Also, my teammates mean a lot to me because I have an obligation to give my best to them.”
