Caney Valley High School’s Kensly Foreman said it was her father who encouraged her to join FFA when she was young. Now a sophomore, Foreman is looking forward to another year of FFA activities.
“I first got involved in FFA in the second grade when I was nine years old,” said Foreman. “My dad really pushed me to get into it for the leadership and the lessons about hard work, dedication and life.”
As a member of the FFA chapter at Caney Valley High School, Foreman is involved in showing livestock and participating in athletics.
“The things I love most about FFA would be the hard work and commitment it takes to provide and train my animals. Also, the bond I build with my animals are irreplaceable,” said Foreman. “I also play softball and basketball for Caney Valley. I recently moved to my hometown chapter in Caney Valley because I have chosen to take biomedicine at Tri County Tech so I can further my education as a doctor or veterinarian.”
Foreman said the FFA has a lot to offer students who are looking to get more out of their high school experience.
“I would say this organization develops lifelong friendships and successful relationships that will carry them throughout their lifetime,” said Foreman.
Foreman is close to her family and her father has been a big influence in her life.
“I would have to say my dad has been the biggest influence because he pushes me to be the best I can be, and his success shows me that hard work and dedication can get you wherever you want to go in life,” said Foreman.
Playing softball and basketball have taught Foreman lessons about leadership, communication and working with others to achieve a common goal.
“The lessons learned in working together and communicating with each other and the trust we have on and off the field. Also learning how to be a leader and how important leadership skills are in life,” said Foreman.
