The wrestling room is growing at Enid High School and with wrestlers returning having experienced the state tournament, the room can only get better.
Carlos Alverado (Sr.) is back after his third-place finish at the state tournament last season. Alverado will move up to 215-pounds where he is currently ranked No. 4 in Class 6A. Alverado can be a leader on and off the mat for the Plainsmen.
Payton Zwiefel wrestled at the state tournament at 145-pounds but will likely move down to 120-pounds for this season. Seth Melvin plans to wrestle heavyweight and could be the X-factor for the Plainsmen this season.
Shae Salinas (Jr.) is a state qualifier at 107-pounds for the growing girls team at Enid. Salinas is ranked No. 4 at 110-pounds coming into the season.

Enid’s first state champion was Tom Hanley (Hwt) in 1932. In 1933 Hanley was followed by Gene Findley (125) and Earl Deneau (155) who won their own titles a year later.
