Oklahoma Union High School’s Hadleigh O’Brien is a varsity softball player for head coach Thad Hewitt. This season O’Brien and her teammates have enjoyed a lot of success on the diamond. With big wins over teams like Glenpool (5A), Chelsea (2A) and Ketchum (2A), the Lady Cougars are looking forward to post-season play. O’Brien is a centerfielder for the team and has played softball since the second grade.
“I love that we always get along and work together really well as a team,” said O’Brien. “I love that we always get along and work together really well as a team.”
As a student-athlete O’Brien said she is focused on her grades and making the most of everything the school has to offer.
“My academics are very important to me because I hope to go to college,” said O’Brien. “My favorite subject in school is science and my favorite teacher is Mrs. Buckley.”
O’Brien as big plans after she graduates from high school.
“I plan on graduating from Coffeyville Community College with and associates degree and then going to Pitt State for two years to get my bachelor’s in biology. Then I hope to get into dental school at the University of Oklahoma and become a general dentist,” said O’Brien.
Also a basketball player and a track athlete, O’Brien is in the National Honor Society and said she loves spending time outdoors.
“In my free time, I like to hang out with friends and family and spend time outdoors,” said O’Brien.
