VYPE: What goals do you have for this year?
PJ: This year I want to be more creative in my game by playing both ways and being more of a leader on the team, and as a team we’re going to get the gold ball.
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
PJ: To not take football for granted. This sport has done so much for me. I don’t know what I would do without a football in my hand. It mostly is just a family thing. Everybody is basically your brother. You’re with them everyday grinding it out, some pretty tough workouts and everything. That’s what I Love !!!
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?
PJ: My favorite teacher is for sure Mr. Munoz/Coach Munoz. He’s the best guy I’ve ever met since I got to high school. He always has a smile on his face and he will always make sure you’re right. I can say he is like another father figure to me. He has really helped me out through my football career, especially.
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
PJ: My mom keeps me going. She’s my No. 1. She always has believed in me in anything. She is the reason why I started playing this sport and I’ll always make sure she is right before anyone. Love you mom!!!
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
PJ: Shaun Lickliter and Kyle Quillen. These guys helped me through so much through my sophomore and freshman year. If you talk about leaders, they were the definition of them. They made sure nobody disobeyed or skipped workout reps. Little things like that is what made us make it to the playoffs, especially. They were a really good group.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?
PJ: Just being there everyday grinding it out like I said with my brothers. I love watching us working as a team and all that hard work paying off.
VYPE: Who in your family is the best athlete? Explain.
PJ: My nana was a track star at Tulsa. She got a full ride scholarship and later on she said she only won two medals and hurt her leg.
VYPE: What’s one sport you wish you could play that you don’t already play?
PJ: Golf for sure.
VYPE: What’s your go-to pregame song?
PJ: “Stand By Me” by Ben E. King.
