Following her family’s footsteps, Christa Canida started FFA in the eighth grade. 

“My brother, mother, and grandparents had all been FFA members,” said Christa. 

Now in her second year of FFA and freshman year of high school at Adair, Christa is excited for all of the opportunities FFA has to offer. 

“My favorite thing about FFA is making new friendships that will last a lifetime. Learning a lot of new and challenging things,” Christa said. “I also love taking care of my show animals.”

Of course Christa has learned a lot about agriculture and animals, but she has also learned a great deal about herself.

“FFA has taught me to get out of my comfort zone and to try new things and make new friends. Also to work hard to accomplish something,” Christa said. “Hard work pays off!”

While staying busy in FFA, Christa also manages to find time to play on the basketball and softball teams as well as run for the track team. You can also catch her at Adair First Baptist Church on Sundays. 

“I like to hangout with my friends in my free time,” Christa said. “I also love to go hunting, fishing, and working at my other sports. I love working with my show animals. I also have a side-hustle lawn mowing business with my brother.” 

This year she is looking forward to her first round of high school basketball games and track meets as well as the livestock shows, especially the OYE show that takes place during spring break. 

Even though Christa is just a freshman she is looking ahead to her future and has plans of attending college. Although she is undecided on what career path she might take she does know that when she gets older she wants to keep her agricultural roots running deep by raising animals and having a garden.
