CHOUTEAU-MAZIE WILDCATS
Coach: JEFF BROWN
2-8
OFFENSE
After a rough 2-8 season a year ago, the Wildcats are working hard to continue to improve and will be looking for that to reflect on the scoreboard. Jeff Brown is in his first year leading the football program and he is looking for good things from this season. “We have a young team still, even though some have playing experience,” he said. “This is because some players were forced into duty as freshmen. Our numbers are still low but growing.
Staying with the flex bone offense has given us confidence and understanding of an offense we believe in. This along with the hardworking nature of our players gives us a bright improving feeling for the upcoming season.” Nick Lunsford (6-0, 175, Sr.) is going to be the quarterback this season. Joining him in the backfield will be running backs Jaxsen Craine (5-10, 180, Sr.) and Daniel Burkholder (5-9, 205, Sr.). On the offensive line, the Wildcats will lean on Mathew Solider (5-10, 195, Sr.), Kaleb Ramsey (5-10, 195, Sr.), and Brady Nicholas (6-4, 225, Sr.) to keep the defense out of the backfield.
DEFENSE
The secondary will be patrolled by Blaine Battles (5-10, 155, So.), Gavin Graham (5-9, 175, Jr.), and Lunsford. Working to keep an eye on the run and the pass, Craine and Ramsey will be at the linebacker positions. Defensive lineman Issac Broome (6-2, 245, Jr.) is going to disrupt the opposing offense whenever he is on the field. Assistant coaches for Chouteau this season are Austin Goodman and Travis Brannon.
