Head Coach – Jarrett Hurt
2021: 2-8
In 2022 coach Jarrett Hurt and the Claremore Zebras are excited for an opportunity for young players to step up and prove their worth alongside a collection of veterans. “We have some great leaders that return from last year,” Hurt said. “We have a good mix of linemen and skill players that got valuable experience last year as underclassmen.” The biggest question for the Zebras is who will be leading the team in the huddle. Scout Cutsinger (6-1, 160, Sr.) and Braxton Etheridge (6-1, 185, Jr.) will compete for the starting quarterback job, but may split the role throughout the season. Both players have great size, arm strength, and vision. Expect both players to see the field depending on situations and packages. Dawson Coppinger (6-1, 250, Sr.) leads the offensive line and will be a stonewall that defenders will struggle to move. Coppinger and the line have had a great offseason and after hitting the weights are excited for a big 2022. Eli Rodgers (5-9, 145, Jr.) and Micah Teel (6-1, 215, Jr.) are two playmakers that will look for opportunities to get into space and make things happen. “Rodgers is electric with the ball in his hands,” Hurt said. “He has unbelievable speed and quickness. The Zebras will try to take advantage of what the defense is giving them and make players miss in the open field. Expect to see the Zebras come out in a multiple two-back spread offense and look to take advantage of opportunities that the defense allows.
