PLAYERS TO WATCH
Boys Basketball
Eyan Williams – Colcord
Eyan is a senior and one of the team leaders. He was voted All-Conference his freshman, sophomore, and junior years. He has been Conference Offensive Player of the Year his sophomore and junior years. He averaged a double-double every year with an average of double digits in points per game and double digits rebounds per game. Eyan is a brilliant player and holds the team together as the leader.
Aiden Clark – Inola
Clark is a hard worker that is always ready to compete. He does a great job of helping his teammates whenever he can.
Jackson Blair- Locust Grove
A great defender and a solid guard. He can shoot it and will be the hardest-working player every day.
Boomer Panther – Salina
The Wildcats will go as Boomer does. He will be a leader on and off the court and he is also an good student in the classroom.
Cody Lechlider – Verdigris
Last season, as a sophomore, Cody averaged 14.0 points per game, while shooting 30% from the three-point line and 50% from the field.
Girls Basketball
Hope Bump – Claremore
Hope is a great kid that brings a strong presence to the court. She looks to have a solid season for the Lady Zebras.
Brooke Walker – Inola
Brooke is an outstanding team mate and player. She is a difference maker on the court with her length and basketball IQ. She is a solid all around player who makes her presence felt in every aspect of the game. She is a great passer, shooter, defender and rebounder.
Bailey Wiggins – Locust Grove
Bailey has a high motor, she has a good attitude, she likes to see her teammates do good and it just rubs off on her team. She’s a good athlete that understands the game.
Anna Crisp – Pryor
Anna always knows what needs to happen. She’s a coach on the floor. She loves her teammates and loves playing the game.
Maddy Daniels – Verdigris
She is a ferocious on-ball defender. Maddy led the team in assists last season. The team is at its best offensively when she is on the court.
UNDERCLASSMEN TO WATCH
Boys Basketball
Khaleeal Penn – Colcord
Khaleeal will be a sophomore this year and is going to play a big role in his team’s success. He has had an outstanding junior high career and is ready to take the next step in his high school career. His size, body, and athletic ability make him very hard to guard in the post area.
Cayson King – Locust Grove
Only a sophomore, but he can shoot the ball really well. He has great instincts on defense and finishes well around the rim. He has gotten a lot stronger this off-season and will make a great impact this season.
Jaron Bailey – Salina
Jaron is a hard worker and he knows what it takes to be successful. He should see some time on the court this season.
Braxton Repschlaeger – Verdigris
As a freshmen last year, Braxton came off the bench and made an impact. He is an explosive athlete and plays with passion and energy. He will be a great impact on both ends of the floor.
Girls Basketball
Roz Tillis – Claremore
Roz has a lot of potential that should become evident this season. She has worked hard to develop into the player that she is, but as she continues to work, her impact on the court will increase.
Hannah Bond and Claire Hooker – Locust Grove
Hannah is an athletic and strong player in the paint who can run the floor, crash the boards, score around the basket, and also step outside. Claire is a do-it-all type of player and a sharpshooter that is lethal from beyond the arc.
Maggie Martin – Pryor
Maggie has put herself in position to make a big impact this year. She missed most of last season with a broken hand. She’s strong around the rim and has a nice shot.
Kate Wiginton – Verdigris
Kate is an incredible athlete. She is extremely quick with the basketball with a deadly pull up jumper and a really good spot-up three-point shooter. She also has the potential to be a lockdown defender. However, her most important attribute for this team is her unbridled enthusiasm. She is always upbeat and energetic
