Christian Gotcher is a two-sport athlete at Claremore High School, competing in football and golf. Gotcher was the starting kicker the past two seasons for the football team, but he decided to forgo his senior season to focus on his favorite sport, golf. And he’s since learned a lot about the game thanks to the extra practice.
“It takes a lot of patience, practice, and growth to be successful in golf,” Gotcher said. “Helping out teammates and listening to others whenever they’re trying to help me has made me a better player and person.”
Thus far, Gotcher’s favorite golf memory was earning a trip to state as a team two consecutive years alongside his older brother, Jordan.
“Getting to play and have success with him at regionals and then going to state and experiencing that memory twice is something that I will never forget,” Gotcher said.
Gotcher also competes in high school bass fishing tournaments as two of his other passions are fishing and hunting.
“I love getting to the woods and on the water whenever I can,” Gotcher said. “We have a tight family and love to spend time together fishing, hunting, or going on our yearly vacation to Navarre, Florida.”
Gotcher credits his family for his success both on and off the golf course.
“My parents have worked so hard over the years to provide for my two brothers and me, and it is something I admire and look forward to repeating in the future when I have kids of my own,” Gotcher said. “My aunts and uncle are a big part of my life. My uncle is one of the best players in this area, and he and my dad have taught me a lot about playing golf. I love being around them when I can.”
