Coach: Jarrod Earp
21-22 Record: 12-11
The Hornets have competed with a younger roster the past couple of years. But as a new season approaches, head coach Jarrod Earp knows his squad is ready to make a playoff run this season.
“This year our team is a more experienced and mature team,” Earp stated. “We have been a young team for the last two years, but this year should be our best. We have a lot of seniors and juniors playing key roles for our team this year. After a great summer of camps this team is poised to take the next step in the goals that we have set.”
The returning leading scorer from last season is Gabe Winfield (6-0, Jr.), who averaged 14 points and 5.0 assists. He is a solid shooter and defender and looks to have a bigger impact this season.
Senior Eyan Williams (6-4, Sr.) has been the team’s most valuable player during his freshman, sophomore, and junior years and looks to continue that trend this season. Playing at the post position, Williams is an outstanding rebounder, smart player, and a team leader.
The other post player is Treyden Larmon (6-3, Jr.), who brings good size and athletic ability to the court, and he can play inside or outside. He was all-conference last year and is expected to be a big- time contributor this season.
The senior guard duo of Jesse Martinez (5-10, Sr.) and Kolton Jones (6-0, Sr.) combined to average nine points and three steals per game. They will be called on this season to play a bigger role on the team.
Bryan Minard (6-3, Sr.), Caleb Skiduel (6-0, Sr.), and Diego Trillo (5-10, Jr.) will all three be called on this season to be contributors to the team’s success.
Other Hornets to watch out for this season are Khaleeal Penn (6-2, So.), Roy Martinez (6-2, Jr.), Malachi January (5-11, So.), Manuel Bocanegra (5-11, So.), Rylan Studie (5-9, Fr.), Caden Clapp (5-11, Fr.), and Jimmie Hamilton (6-0, Fr.).
