Kansas’ Gracee Stanley – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Rib Crib

By Payton Moody

When it comes to softball, Gracee Stanley, a seasoned player from Kansas High School, is a name that stands out. Her journey in the sport has been nothing short of remarkable, and it’s not just her athletic prowess that shines; it’s her character and commitment to her team that truly sets her apart.

Stanley speaks fondly of Coach Graham, who has been a constant presence in her softball journey. “He has always been around with my family and has made a big impact on my life by being brutally honest with me, and pushing me to be the best,” she said.

In sports, the bonds you form with your teammates can be as crucial as your individual skills. Stanley recognizes the value of teamwork and camaraderie. “We all push each other to our limits, especially in the weight room,” she said. “It’s just a genuine friendship between us, and I thank them so much for it.”

Preparing for a softball season requires dedication and hard work. Stanley shares her off-season routine: “Hitting the weight room is one of my favorite ways to get ready for the season because not only does it get me physically ready, but it helps me overcome those mental challenges and barriers that I will face during the season.”

Stanley has learned the importance of resilience and personal growth through softball. “Softball has taught me that even though you had a great game, you can still lose” Stanley said. “I can’t win every battle, and that’s where we learn and grow from. I learn more from losing than I do winning.”

As she looks ahead to the upcoming season, Stanley’s focus is clear. “I hope to keep a good mindset,” she said. “It’s so easy to get down on myself and get frustrated. Being a senior, I’m supposed to be uplifting and the role model, so I hope to be that for the team and keep us on a positive path this season.”

After her high school journey, Stanley has her sights set on a career in cosmetology. She is currently pursuing her passion at Northeast Tech, with plans to enter the salon industry right after graduation.
