Kansas’ Josie Pollet – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Rib Crib

Josie Pollet, a standout softball player at Kansas High School, is not only known for her impressive skills on the diamond but also for her dedication to her team and her commitment to personal growth. With a bright future ahead of her, Polletreflects on her journey in this athlete spotlight.

When asked about her favorite coach, Pollet credits Coach Austin Graham. “He has always pushed me to do my best and has taught me to build my teammates up when they are down,” she said. Coach Graham’s impact goes beyond the game, instilling in Pollet the values of teamwork and sportsmanship that are vital both on and off the field.

In the realm of teammates, Pollet is quick to recognize the support she’s received. “All of my teammates have supported me in both travel ball and school ball,” she says. The bond among teammates is crucial in any sport, and Pollet’steammates have been a source of encouragement throughout her career.

Turning to her academic life, Pollet fondly remembers Coach Steele as her favorite teacher. “He made science fun and has taught me many life lessons,” she notes. 

Pollet’s preparations during the off-season demonstrate her commitment to improvement. “I have continued to go to all of my pitching lessons and go to the cages at school to get some swings in,” she said.

Beyond the technical aspects of softball, Pollet recognizes the broader lessons the sport has taught her. “Softball has taught me that even though we mess up, it doesn’t mean we can’t fix it the next time,” she reflects. 

When reminiscing about her favorite memories in softball, Pollet highlights the camaraderie of the team during bus rides to and from games. These moments of togetherness and shared experiences form a deep connection among the players.

Looking ahead to the current season, Pollet sets ambitious goals. “I hope to make all-state and go to super regionals with the team,” she says. 

After high school, Pollet has already made plans to continue her academic and softball career at Eastern Oklahoma State College. Her dedication to the sport and her commitment to her education make her a shining example of a student-athlete with a bright future.
