Players to Watch


Kalyn Ladd – Claremore

Kayln is a senior leader who is highly motivated to compete on both school and all star teams. She always puts in extra work and is a positive and talented force for her team.

Elizabeth Norris – Kansas

Not only does she work two jobs while being cheer captain, she is a student at Northeast Technology Center in the Health Science field.  She has not only managed to train the high school squad but has been essential to providing knowledge and growth to the middle school squad.

Claudia Cummings – Pryor

Claudia works hard every day in practice, always pushes herself and her teammates to be better and is always willing to help.

Averee Bressie – Verdigris

She’s a natural leader to the team. She has been cheering her whole life, is a strong athlete, and has great energy on the sideline.

Boys Cross Country

Brayden Russell – Chouteau

Brayden has ran at the state meet since he was a freshman. He has lots of experience and is running well. He is expected to compete well this season.

Colby Jones – Colcord

Jones is an amazing runner who works hard at every single practice. He goes above and beyond and runs extra during workouts because he likes to. Colby is a top finisher in all of his races and has a lot of potential during the next two years.

Carson Pendley – Pryor

Carson is only a sophomore and is one of the team’s top runners.  He’s put in the time during summer running and it is showing in both his workouts and in races this year. 

Luke Wood – Sequoyah Claremore

Luke finished tenth last year at the state cross country meet as a sophomore. He looks to have a big season this year.

Girls Cross Country

Mattison Hamilton – Colcord

Mattison is a multi-sport athlete who gives her all in every sport she competes in. She has an incredible work ethic and you can always count on her to be the first runner on the team to finish races.

Jaycee Adkins – Inola

She’s medaled in every meet so far and won the two-mile at Claremore recently. She’s an extremely hard worker & very dedicated to running daily, while working twenty-five plus hours a week at her job.

Caiti White – Pryor

Caiti is a hard worker and does what you ask of her. She’s always putting in extra work and it pays off.

Hailey McClure – Sequoyah Claremore

She is a three time qualifier for state cross country meet.  Looking to complete all four years.

Underclassmen to Watch


McKenna Parish – Claremore

She is a promising freshman who always pushes herself and her teammates. She is very talented, and she is a great tumbler, stunter, and fun to watch on the sidelines.

Brooklyn Vaughn – Kansas

Brooklyn is a legend when it comes to work ethic on and off the field.  Even though she is self-taught, she has mastered the art of stunting and is gaining on her peers in tumbling.  She loves to mentor others.

Sophie Schmidt – Pryor

Sophie is the happiness of the squad. She is always smiling and always encouraging everyone on the team. Sophie will jump in and do anything that is asked of her.

Haven O’Sheilds – Verdigris

She is fun and energetic, her charisma on Friday nights is infectious. She’s young, but will be a great leader to the team by the time she is a senior.

Boys Cross Country

Trenton Russell – Chouteau

Trenton has improved in huge amounts since his freshman year. He looks to have a big season.

Malachi January – Colcord

Malachi is an amazing runner who gives his all during every race. He is a multi-sport athlete who excels in all sports. He works hard and never complains, he is fun to coach, and he is a great teammate.

Lane Harris – Inola

He placed thirteenth in his first 5K. He works hard everyday to continually improve.

Dayton Hunter – Pryor

Dayton is the team’s number two runner as a freshmen.  He’s running very close to the top  runner and is really hammering the workouts this year.

Wyatt Thompson – Sequoyah Claremore

Wyatt is a sophomore that is starting to see his potential. He is a hard worker.

Girls Cross Country

Madison Hancock – Colcord

Madison is a strong runner with a winners mindset. She works hard in practice and is a natural leader. Madison is a top finisher in all of her races. Madison encourages all of her teammates and has great character.

Unsung Heroes


Reagan Jauquet – Claremore

Reagan is a calming force on the team. She is mature, wise, and always handles stressful situations with patience and grace. She overcame challenges in tumbling after being injured, and she is a senior the whole team can count on.

Cadence Sehr – Kansas

Cadence was recruited by her friends to cheer her senior year.  She is busy participating in visual communication at Northeast Technology Center while helping the squad perform, creating signs, and learning the basics of cheer.  She found out the team needed help and answered the call.  She is great about looking out for others and making sure girls have transportation to and from events and practices. 

Kayleigh Blackwell – Pryor

Kayleigh will try absolutely anything without hesitation. She jumps in and just does it. She is new to being a flyer and has taken on the responsibility and has progressed dramatically in a short period of time.

Brianna Genay – Verdigris

Genay has been cheering for Verdigris since junior high. She is a fantastic cheer athlete and she is a great teacher and mentor to the underclassmen. She gives 100% all the time and does everything with a smile.

Boys Cross Country

Levi Dale – Colcord

Levi is the best teammate anyone could have on their team. He practices hard, he never complains, and he encourages every runner on the team. Levi improves on his times each meet and gives his all.

Cannon Walker – Inola

He’s a very hard worker, always gives his all no matter what. He’s also a great team encourager while the other groups are running.

Benny Shearin – Pryor

Benny is a junior and is running cross country for the first time this year. He committed to summer running and has been a solid part of the varsity team.

Josh Driskel – Sequoyah Claremore

Driskel is an outstanding runner and he is a solid teammate.

Girls Cross Country

Natellie Summerlin – Chouteau

Natellie is the only girl running full time. There are others but they are also competing in softball and volleyball. This is her first year to run for Chouteau cross country and she is improving like crazy.

Shanie Barbee – Colcord

Shanie is the runner that you want on your team. She has an awesome work ethic, a top finisher in all of her races, and is a great leader for the younger athletes. Shanie does anything that is asked of her and always has a great attitude.

Madison Llamas – Sequoyah Claremore

A senior that started running a couple years ago.  She works extremely hard and is a great leader.
