Pryor Area Mom of the Month
Kirby Buchanan
Like many parents of high school athlete, Kirby Buchanan spends a lot of time working to ensure their athlete and the team have everything they need to enter into competition solely focused on the task at hand. Buchanan’s daughter, Arystan Buchanan is a senior at Pryor High School and a member of the varsity softball teams in the fall and the spring. Her son Ryvan is a sophomore and involved in FFA as well.
Kirby Buchanan serves with the booster club, and she helps organize various events for the team.
“I serve as the Treasurer for the booster club for fastpitch and help organize event nights we have for the team,” Buchanan said. “I love getting to know all of the girls on the team. Building relationships with and being able to help the new parents navigate school sports is rewarding as well.”
Being involved in her student-athletes’ activities was important for Buchanan.
“I want my children to know that being present for them was my top priority and I don’t want to miss a minute of them growing up,” said Buchanan.
A Pryor High School graduate herself, Buchanan said there are many people who help the team, and it’s what makes Pryor such a special place.
“We have a great team on our softball booster club. Kendal Stohler, Cindy Chupp, and Dallas Donnelly are my partners in crime and work extra hard to do all we can for our girls,” Buchanan said. “The opportunities offered to all students in Pryor. No matter what interest your child, they’ll find something here in Pryor to help them get started on their way to adulthood in a career they love. There’s a place for everyone here.”
Buchanan works as an aide in a pre-K class at a local elementary school in Pryor when she’s not following her softball player to games or spending time at an FFA event with her son.
