Kim Couch- Pryor Area Mom of the Month
By Scott Metz
Behind every student athlete is a parent that supports their son or daughter. Mother of Pryor Football player Jacob Couch, Kim Couch is the epitome of that definition. Having finished his 11th year of football, Jacob is a Junior at Pryor High School. Jason started playing football in 1st Grade.
Kim is a determined, and is a warrior. This can be seen by her attendance of her son’s football games. She said, “I have never missed a single game, and I’d guess Jason played approximately 130 of them since first grade.”
Besides having a determined spirit watching her son play from the bleachers, she has the utmost respect from Jacob’s coach, Pryor Tigers Head Football Coach Kenny Davis stated, “Kim is very involved in our booster club and a counselor at the school. She is a cancer survivor and is currently undergoing treatment. Her positivity and willingness to do anything for anyone is an inspiration to everyone.”
When asked what the most rewarding part of being a football mom, Kim stated, “Watching Jacob work hard to play the game that he loves is the most rewarding part of being a football mom.”
Being a fan of her son’s appearances on the field, Kim stated the following about her favorite memories of her son playing football, “There are so many favorites, but I’d say my most favorite was watching Jacob start on the varsity team as a sophomore and then seeing his hard work pay off when he received the Linebacker of the Year award that season.”
After High School, Jacob’s plans according to Kim are “Undecided, but he hopes to continue playing football at the college level. If he doesn’t continue playing football, he plans to attend tech.”
In addition to playing football, Jacob plays baseball.
Kim has more than a football son that she loves, she has two 9 year old twins, Karlee and Kynslee, who are active in cheer, gymnastics, and basketball. They attend Roosevelt Elementary.
It is clear that Kim is a Mom that deserves to be celebrated for all that she does.
