Bartlesville OK FFA Spotlight – Autumn Gawhega – Presented by Oklahoma AgCredit

During her second semester of her freshman year, Autumn Gawhega decided to join the
FFA chapter at Bartlesville High School thanks to some encouragement from a few friends.
“I had friends in FFA at the time and they thought I should join the program. I was already
invested in joining the program so whenever second semester came around, I made the
decision to join,” said Gawhega.
Even though Gawhega hasn’t shown livestock in the past, she is looking forward to giving it
a try this year.

“I haven’t done any activities like speech or showing in the program. I’ve participated in
helping with our chapter meetings, trips, and in class activities. This year I plan on being
more involved with trying to show animals and possibly speech. I’ve always wanted to
show, but I’ve never really tried getting into it. This year is different though because I’m
going to try and get into showing either cattle or horses,” said Gawhega. “What I enjoy most
in FFA is our chapter’s trips together. Going to MFE and State Convention are great times.”
Gawhega is a junior this year and a member of the Lady Bruin softball team for the last
three year.
“What I love most about being in the softball program is the friends, memories, and the
things you learn from the sport. Softball is the only sport I play in Bartlesville and what I
love most about my team is how we bond with each other. We act like ourselves; we get
along pretty good, and we make a lot of memories together. We’ve all grown a lot together
and we continue to do that,” said Gawhega.
The junior said her father has been a big influence in her life and has been there to support
her throughout her life.
“My biggest influence in life would be my dad. He’s taught me so much and has been a great
supporter of me. Even though he’s not my biological father I know he loves me to death and
would support me in anything. My plans after graduating high school is to go to Oklahoma
State University for vet school,” said Gawhega.
