Epic’s Blake Tatham – Northeast Tech Student Spotlight

Northeast Tech is more than just a place for students to attend and sit through more classes. The great thing about Tech is that they give their students the ability to get hands-on experience in whatever field they are looking to go into after they graduate from high school.

Blake Tatham is a senior with Epic Charter Schools, and he is also a student at the Pryor Campus of Northeast Tech.

“I have known about Tech for a long time,” he said. “I just knew that it would be a great life decision for me to go there and learn a trade that I would be able to use for the rest of my life. I am enrolled in the Diesel & Heavy Equipment Repair program because I have always liked the idea of working on things and knowing that I am able to fix them.”

The things he is learning at Northeast Tech will be things that could open doors for him in the future, and Blake says that anyone that is considering Northeast Tech should give it a shot.

“It is a great school, and it is a great chance to get a head start on your future,” he said. “If you have the opportunity to attend, I believe that you should take advantage of it. They are doing a great job of preparing me to do great things in my future.”

Along with working with his hands on heavy machinery, Tatham is also involved with rodeoing.

“The sport that I am involved in is rodeo,” he said. “I calf rope and team rope. I am also enrolled at NEO on a rodeo scholarship. I just love the excitement that goes along with being in the rodeo. There are a lot of great people that are there too, and I have made some great friendships along the way.”

With all the people that he has met along the way, Tatham says that there is one person that has had the biggest impact on him.

“Clay Brown is one of my biggest influences,” he said. “He has been a mentor to me and helped me out and pushed me to be my best.”
