Athletes put in a lot of hard work throughout their career, working hard and trying to reach goals that they or their coaches have set for them. One of the best feelings is knowing that you have achieved what you have worked so hard for. Fairland’s Jaylee Campbell says that the best moments of her career have been reaching some of those goals. 

“Making it to the state tournament for softball and basketball would have to be the highlights of my career so far,” she said. “It took a lot of dedication, hard work, and help from my coaches, but knowing that we made it was a great feeling.”

A freshman at Fairland High School, Jaylee competes in fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball, basketball, and track. Outside of sports, she is also a member of the Future Farmers of America, Gifted and Talented, and the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America.

Campbell and her teammates compete against several different teams, but she says that there are a couple of them that she enjoys going up against the most.

“I would have to say that Wyandotte and Afton are the teams I enjoy playing the most,” she said. “Our games are always close and exciting, and it is really fun to beat them.”

Whether things are going well, or she is in a bit of a rough patch on the field, Jaylee says that she has a group of people that she can always trust will be in her corner. 

“My mom, dad, and my coaches are my biggest role models and supporters,” she said. “They have always set a good example for how to be a better athlete and person. I put in a lot of work in order to be the best that I can, and my family is my motivation to work as hard as I can.”
