Kreed Culver

Some people are born to run. Kreed Culver of Jay High School could fit into that category. In the fall, Culver is a member of the cross-country team, which means running longer distances in the spring is right up his alley.
“I have run track for four years. The events I am in are the 4×100, the 4×800, 300-meter hurdles and the mile relay,” said Culver.
Culver competes on the same team as his brother Krew and said the team chemistry is good. There are the serious runners, and a few guys who like to keep people laughing. Both are needed when competing against some of the best talent in the state.
“Track is something I enjoy. It is good seeing your brother do good. It’s also good when I beat him,” said Culver. “I believe Orion Tsosie is the one who makes people laugh and Luke Black is the most serious one we have.”
For Culver, representing his school in competition means he also represents the town and the former athletes before him.
“The most enjoyable thing about being a Jay High School athlete is being around the other people that go to Jay. My favorite memory at JHS has yet to be made,” said Culver.
As with any high school student, Culver thinks about his future life after high school. Like many of his peers, Culver plans to attend college and pursue a degree in the medical field.
“After school I plan on going to college and become an anesthesiologist,” said Culver.
When asked about his favorite athlete of all-time, no surprise he picked another runner who made history and is considered one of the best to ever compete. “Steve Prefontaine is my favorite athlete figure,” said Culver.
