Kansas’ Jeremiah Harmon – athlete spotlight presented by northeast tech

By Derrick Smith

When you compete in individual sports, such as golf, track, and wrestling, you hold the outcome in your hands alone. You are not dependent on teammates to do their job but instead it boils down to if you prepared yourself enough.

Jeremiah Harmon is a baseball player for Kansas High School and says that in order for a team to be successful, the chemistry and team bond has to be tight.

“In order to be successful in a team sport, there are a lot of factors,” he said. “You have to have a good group of guys that will be there for you and are just as hungry as you are to reach the same goal.”

A senior, Harmon plays third base, catcher, and pitcher on the Comets’ baseball team. He has played baseball for four years and enjoys the game. He is also a member of the school’s football team.

Throughout his life, Jeremiah has had people that have had different impacts on his life. But out of all of them, there are a few that have helped shape him into the person and athlete that he is today.

“My parents are the biggest role models in my life,” he said. “They have always been there for me and taught me how to work my hardest. Also, coach Graham has been a big influence on my life. He is always pushing me and my teammates to be the best we can be.”

While he looks back over his sports career, Jeremiah says that he has enjoyed some really great moments with his teammates, both on and off the field. But he says that he does not really have a highlight moment that stands out.

“I really can’t think of a highlight moment of my career,” he said. “I just try to go out and do my job in the situation that I am given.”

Along with sports, Harmon is also a member of the Indian Club and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
