Kansas’ Kelsie McCratic – student of the month presented by northeast tech

By Derrick Smith

Kelsie McCratic has been drawn to the medical field for a while and she says that she is getting a better idea of what career she wants now that she is attending Northeast Tech.

“The sophomore showcase was when I really decided to come to Tech,” she said. “The atmosphere at Tech is so different than normal high school and the staff treats us students as family. I am taking the Health Careers Two program at the Kansas campus mainly because I was super interested in the medical field and this program seemed perfect for me.”

McCratic, who is a senior at Kansas High School, says that she would recommend Tech to anyone that is interested in getting a head start on their future.

“Tech is teaching me so many things that I will use for the rest of my life,” she said. “I would tell someone considering Tech that it is totally worth it. They will learn so much more than what their program is teaching, I feel like Tech gets you ready for the next step after high school. “

As a student at Kansas, Kelsie is a member of the school’s softball team. She has played softball for a while and has enjoyed some great experiences and made some memories with her teammates. But she says that there is one moment out of all of them that she loves the most.

“The most memorable moment for me is when my team won the 2021 regional tournament,” she recalled. “That win allowed us to move on to the state tournament. It was a great team experience.”

There have been a number of people that have played a role in McCratic’s life. She says that her parents have had a big influence on her.

“They always support me no matter what,” she said. “They always push me to work hard and achieve my goals.”

Along with sports, Kelsie also serves as president of the Kansas chapter of the Future Farmers of America program. She already knows what she wants to do once she graduates from high school.

“After high school I hope to attend Connors State College and be on their Cattle Showing Team.”
