Ketchum’s Hannah Sikes – athlete spotlight presented by BancFirst Ketchum

By Derrick Smith

Hannah Sikes is a sophomore at Ketchum High School who already has what it takes to be a successful athlete. She says that the little things you can do on your own, like working on fundamentals and handling skills, will set yourself apart from other naturally talented players.

Hannah is an all-around athlete for the Lady Warriors and contributes her skills to the softball, basketball, cheerleading and track programs at Ketchum High. Outside of scheduled team practices, she and her teammates are putting in the extra work hours for a chance to bring home the state championship title. Hannah wanted to let her teammates know that some of her career highlights are of the friendships, love and support that the team brings to one another.

Hannah’s biggest influence has been Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry.

“I have always admired Curry because of his height and not being as tall as the rest of the men in the NBA. But it does not stop him from showing up and playing to the best of his abilities,” she said.

There are two other Warriors that are also important to Hannah, but these are not affiliated with the Golden State. She says that Mrs. Bruce and Ms. Hartsock are two teachers who she could talk with and have always made her laugh, no matter what. Both teachers have demonstrated the importance of keeping a positive attitude in school and when she competes.

Hannah will take the next years in high school to focus on her future steps in sports. Although she hasn’t made any particular plans, Sikes is making strides to attend Oklahoma State University in the fall of 2024. One of her favorite quotes is: “Go 110 percent even if it is in the wrong direction.”
