Damen Dillingham is one of just three high school seniors on the Miami boy’s soccer squad this season. Dillingham returns as a three-year starter and was all-district honorable mention last season as a midfielder.
“Damen has played in the midfield for us the last few years,” coach David Douthit said. “I’ve asked him to play in the back for us this year due to heavy graduation losses to make our team better, and he responded with ‘whatever it takes to help the team’, which, I think, says a lot about him.”
After an 8-4 season in 2021, Dillingham is one of four upperclassmen who will be relied upon this spring. Dillingham also ran cross country all four years, ending his senior season as a top-seven varsity runner.
BodyOutside of athletics, Dillingham is a member of the high school band, where he plays the French horn. Dillingham has played in the band all four years, competing in marching competitions and other contests along the way. Last season the band won sweepstakes which is awarded to the band with the highest score in their respective class.
“I’ve played the French horn since the sixth grade,” Dillingham said. “I’ve made a lot of friends and memories along the way in athletics and with the band.”
Upon graduation, Dillingham wants to continue playing soccer at the collegiate level.
“Damen is a good student, who stays out of trouble,” Douthit said. “He should be able to play soccer at the next level.”
