FAIRLAND OWLS

Coach – JIMMY HUDSON

OFFENSE

New head coach Jimmy Hudson is excited to get the season started after a good spring session and summer workouts. Hudson said he is looking forward to seeing guys like Jayden Anderson, Jalen Riggs, JJ Sohor and Hunter Kosted this season. The experience of the offensive line could be a strength for the Owls heading into the season. The backfield will benefit from having a good group up front. Andy Bradbrook, Jacoby Jackson and Boone Perryman are likely starters in the backfield and according to coach Hudson, this group has worked extremely hard this summer.

DEFENSE

Look for the Owls to base in a 4-4 defense this season. “As a team we want to change the culture of our program,” said coach Hudson. “We want to be a team that is known for hard work and effort. We have had great numbers all summer and we’re definitely seeing a change in mentality when we step into the weight room or on the practice field.” The coaching staff will consist of Billie Ellick and Kennan Webb.

AFTON EAGLES
Coach – COREY HENRY

OFFENSE
With a very young team, the Afton Eagles coaching staff is very excited to develop their young players. “This year will be a learning curve for us. Play many young kids, we will have to mature early in the year. I’m excited to see the progress of this young athletic group,” head coach Corey Henry said. Tatum Ford (5-11, 140, So.) started for half the season as a freshman, taking over in week five. In his time starting, he recorded nearly 400 passing yards and two touchdowns, along with 106 rushing yards. Coach Henry has high expectations for Tatum Ford, saying that he is a player that is always working hard to perfect his game. Alongside Tatum Ford is Landon Ford (5-11, 135, So.) who plays wide receiver for the Eagles, and started as a freshman. On the offensive line, returning starters Dusty Saylor (5-10, 280, Jr.) and Caden Giles (6-2, 300, Sr.) bring leadership responsibilities due to them being the most experienced players on the team. The coaching staff is looking forward to running a spread offense and using their player’s athletic abilities.

DEFENSE
Afton will base their defense out of a 4-3 formation, playing aggressive and letting the players use their athleticism to react. Both Landon Ford and Tatum Ford will play defense for the eagles as well. Tatum will play free safety, and Landon will play cornerback. Tatum recorded two interceptions and 21 tackles a year ago, while Landon recorded three interceptions and 26 tackles. Playing defensive end is Colin Kieth (6-0, 205, So.). Kieth is expected to produce at a higher level than his age shows, and Coach Henry has confidence that he can.
