Miami’s Dominic Humble – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Jim Rexwinkle and Nate Long State Farm

Family plays a big role in the lives of high school athletes. They are a support system that are there to cheer them on and they work to encourage them when they hit a rough patch. Dominic Humble is a dual sport athlete for the Miami Wardogs and he says that there are a few guys that he looks up to.

“The biggest influences and role models are definitely my grandpa, dad, uncle, and all of my coaches,” he stated. “They have shown me that nothing in life comes free and that you have to work for it if you really want it. I wear number twenty-one as my number because that is what my uncle wore when he played at Miami.”

Humble is in his junior year at Miami High School. He plays running back and inside linebacker on the football team and he is also a member of the school’s powerlifting team. While he has put in a lot of work to be the best athlete he can be, Dominic says that his teammates are key to his success.

“My motivation when working on my game is my teammates,” he said. “When I’m out there playing, I’m out there playing for them. I enjoy working with Christohper Kelly, who is the other inside linebacker on our team. It is always a competition between us and he is just a fun guy to be around. For me to be successful in sports it’s definitely taken some hard work and long weight room hours to get where I am right now.”

When he is in the classroom, Humble is taught by some outstanding teachers, but he has one teacher that has really influenced his life.

“The teacher that has made the biggest impact in my life is definitely Kenton  Adams,” Dominic said. “When I’m in his class and he’s teaching, I actually want to be at school learning.”

Humble is a hard worker, but he also enjoys his downtime. When he is able to, he likes to check out his social media.

“My favorite person that I follow on social media is Ray Lewis because of the way he has  impacted the game, and in my opinion he was just the greatest linebacker of all time without a doubt.”
