Quarterback Karson Jinks ran 29 times for 215 yards and a touchdown and threw for another score in the Wardogs in a 28-25 loss to Skiatook. 

The Wardogs ended a four game losing streak to Jay with a 38-12 win on September 3rd. Miami has won 11 of the last 18 games in the series.

OFFENSE 

Head coach Zach Gardner is confident the 2022 version of the Wardogs will reflect the level of experience and talent he has returning to the field this season. “We’re coming off a competitive and very youthful season. ‘22 Wardogs have high expectations and are very hopeful to make the playoffs,” said coach Gardner. Seven offensive starters are back including Karson Jinks (6-0, 185, Sr.) at quarterback. Jinks will run the spread offense with a single back being Seth Davis (6-2, 185, So.). Both players are capable of big plays in the Wardog offense. Hunter Nichols (6-0, 205, Jr.) will also see time in the backfield. Garrett Walls (5-9, 155, Jr.) and Eric McKibben (6-3, 190, Sr.) are two targets in the spread passing game Jinks will look for this season. Look for Hayden Miller (6-1, 240, So.) at center. His play will set the tone for the offensive line. 

DEFENSE

Nine starters are back on the Wardog defense for Brad Homer the defensive coordinator. Among the nine is linebacker Chris Kelley (5-10, 190, So.). Kelley brings a lot of speed and the ability to read plays quickly. Zander Clark (5-10, 200, So.) and Reece Satterwhite (6-2, 225, So.) will start at defensive end giving the defense two players who can disrupt an offense. Dominic Humble (5-11, 195, Jr.) joins Kelley at linebacker with senior Alfred Bailey (5-10, 170, Sr.) at outside linebacker. Also look for Brian Cox (5-10, 205, Sr.) at defensive tackle and guard on offense. “We feel we’re much more experienced and are pleased with our progress on the defensive side of the ball,” said Gardner. The coaching staff also includes Matt LeFay, Adam Teal, Pete Overman, Patrick Billings, and Zach Henry.
