In the heart of Vinita, Oklahoma, one young athlete is making waves on the cross country course. Caydence Livingston, a standout runner for Vinita High School, has not only excelled in her sport but also embodies the qualities of dedication and compassion.
When asked about her favorite coach, Livingston credits Vinita Head Cross Country Coach Nathan Wylie. “My favorite coach is my current coach,” she said. “He has pushed me to see my full potential and helps me reach my goals.”
But Livingston’s support network extends beyond her coach. “I admire all of my teammates because of their hard work and dedication, and they all support me the same way I do them,” she said.
Reflecting on her educational journey, Livingston spoke fondly of her fourth-grade teacher, Mrs. Reno. “She showed all of her students compassion and taught me how to be the best person I could,” Livingston said.
In preparation for the upcoming cross country season, Livingston took her training seriously. “Over the summer, I ran to prepare myself for the upcoming cross country and track seasons,” she said.
Cross country has taught Livingston valuable life lessons that she carries with her daily. “My sport taught me that even when you think you can’t go any further, that you really can,” Livingston said.
Looking ahead to the current season, Livingston hopes for personal and team growth, saying, “I hope that we all run better times than we did last year and continue to improve.”
When asked about the matchup she’s most looking forward to this season, Livingston eagerly anticipates regionals and state competitions, where she can put her training to the test on a larger stage.
As for her plans after high school, Livingston has ambitious goals. “My plans after high school are to attend college and work toward a veterinary medicine degree,” she said. Her determination to excel in academics while pursuing her passion for animals highlights her commitment to success.
Caydence Livingston’s journey in cross country exemplifies the values of dedication, support and compassion. Her future is undoubtedly bright, as she continues to chase her dreams on and off the course.
