Caney Valley’s Abby Daigle Athlete Spotlight Presented by Conoco Phillips

Abby Daigle is a dual sport athlete for the Trojans of Caney Valley. She is a member of the track and basketball teams. Competing in multiple sports requires a lot of work from Daigle, but she says that it is great to see the work pay off.

“It takes a lot of dedication to succeed in track,” she said. “It is mostly an individual sport so you have to push yourself. The highlight of my career has been seeing my teammates and I growing in our strengths. It is very special to see the progress that the team has made as a whole.”

A sophomore at Caney Valley High School, Daigle is proud to wear the Trojan uniform whenever she competes.

“I love representing my school because, as hallmark and cringey as it sounds, this school really is a part of my family,” she said. “Most of the people at this school and in this community are people that I have grown up with my whole life. It feels great to compete as a Caney valley Trojan.”

Along with all the work that she has invested, Abby also has people in her life that have played a big role in her becoming the athlete and the person that she is today.

“I am motivated by my coaches, parents, and my teammates,” she said. “They are always pushing me to get better. Mrs. Flaming is my yearbook teacher and she is so caring and supportive to her students. She has always believed in me and encourages me to do my best. And as weird as it may sound, the person I greatly look up to is Ahsoka Tano. She is a fictional character from the tv show ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars.’ I have always been inspired by her because of her perseverance and her selflessness to those around her.”

Anthony Fogle is the head track coach at Caney Valley. He says that Daigle is an all-around great teammate.

“Abby is a hard worker and a great student,” he stated. “She does a great job of keeping the team spirit high.”

Social media influencers can play a role in a lot of people’s lives. Abby says that out of all of them out there, she has one that tops her list.

“I think my favorite influencer is Brittany Broski,” Daigle stated. “We have the same sense of humor. Aside from her being hilarious she has such a positive outlook on life, and it is really refreshing to watch her videos.”
