9 Q’s with Grove’s Elliot Geer – Presented by TH Rogers Lumber

VYPE: Which professional athlete do you look up to and why?

Elliot: I look up to Simone Biles a lot. The discipline and dedication she puts into her sport is admirable.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?

Elliot: Mrs Tharp, my chemistry teacher from junior year. She has helped me learn about so many academic and scholarship opportunities. She goes above and beyond for all her students.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

Elliot: Mr. Kruetz, my principal, inspires me because he sees me both as an athlete and student and continues to hold me to high standards. He is always pushing me and makes me think from different perspectives.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

Elliot: Ava Sarwinski. She was our catcher my freshman year and she went to play college ball at Pitt State. I ran based for her as a courtesy runner so she taught me alot about the game. Which is why I became better in a short period.

VYPE: When and how did you first get into playing your sport?

Elliot: I got a late start to softball, I didn’t start playing until my seventh grade year when the high school coach at the time asked. It was something different than cross country. I definitely had some growing pains the first few years, I don’t think I ever thought I would be a starter and a lead off.

VYPE: What has been your favorite memory of playing?

Elliot: What has been your favorite memory of playing? Recently, I hit two homeruns in one day. On the same day we had a teammate hit their first homerun and one of our freshmen also had a homerun. All on the same day!

VYPE: What is your all-time favorite meal?

Elliot: I love homemade chicken noodle soup

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?

Elliot: “One day that ball is going to stop bouncing”, my summer ball coach said this all the time. It reminds me why I need to be someone more than just an athlete. To become the best daughter and student I can be.

VYPE: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.

Elliot: Dear Mom and Dad, thank you for pushing me, working with me, and holding me to high standards.
