AFTON EAGLES
Coach: KELCEE HENRY
OUTLOOK
The Afton Lady Eagles are looking to put their 2021 season behind them and have high hopes for the new fall campaign with lots of young talent gaining experience over the past season. The Lady Eagles will only have three seniors on their team this season, but coaches have been pleased with the growth and progress their team has made over the offseason. Summer Murry (SS, Jr.) is an all-around player and leadoff batter for the Afton Lady Eagles. She excels at shortstop and has a great glove, reaction, and instincts from the infield. Murry has also really impressed coaches at the plate in her first two seasons at Afton and they say she has really grown into that role. Murry makes solid contact with the ball and gets on base often, which is great at providing an early spark for the Lady Eagle offense. Lyndee Mikesell (P, Jr.) looks to handle the majority of pitching responsibilities this year. Mikesell is a skilled pitcher who can control the game from the circle. Libbi Barton (C, Sr.) returns for her final season behind the dish where she can command the defense. She is also a solid batter with a consistent swing.
Coaches are excited for the return of Chloe Church (C, IF, Jr.) who returns to the Afton softball team after taking a year off her sophomore season. Church brings versatility back to the Lady Eagle defense and can make an impact at the plate, behind the dish, or wherever needed in the infield. Delani Johnson (OF, Jr.) brings athleticism to the outfield and running bases. Coaches speak highly of her positive attitude and ability to keep teammates motivated. Other players to look for include Hailey Miller (OF, Sr.), Brenna Boudreaux (OF, Sr.), Chandler Ervin (OF, Jr.), Johnni Jones (IF, Jr.), Catherine Shandy (IF, Jr.), Avery Marshall (UT, Jr.), Olivia Gillete (OF, So.), Jada Mendez (OF, So.), Tia Horton (IF, So.), Haily Ervin (C, IF, Fr.), Zoey Mace (UT, Fr.), Brylee Roberts (UT, Fr.), Cheyenne Same (IF, Fr.), and Gracie Cook (IF, Fr.).
