GIRLS
Coach: Justin Goins
20-21 Record: 21-6
Returning plenty of talent to build on the success of a season ago, head coach Justin Goins and the Lady Owls are ready to take the court and accept the challenge of a tough and long season. “We return six of our top eight players off of last year’s area consolation finals team,” said coach Goins. That includes Grace Goins (5-11, Sr.) who averaged 13.8 points, 9.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. Goins can play guard or forward has started every game she has suited up for the Lady Owls. Erica Schertz (5-11, Jr.) averaged 14.2 points and 10 rebounds a game. The double-double machine is nearly impossible to stop at forward. The pair of Goins and Schertz is a nightmare for opposing coaches.
Add Scout Mayfield (5-5, Sr.) at guard and you have a trio of players looking to score and play you tough on the defensive end. Mayfield averaged 7.0 points per contest last year. Makynzi Jones (5-5, Sr.) is another guard who can score and be a difference maker this season. Kinley Powell (5-5, Jr.) and Keena Webb (5-7, So.) are expected to play larger roles this season. Mikealla Meister (5-6, Jr.) will push for playing time this season as she continues to improve her game. Other players to watch are Cadence Roller (5-9, So.), Keziah Jacobs (5-8, So.), Kelsey Willard (5-9, So.), Averi Anderson (5-10, Fr.), Aubrey Kinsey (5-7, Fr.), Jaylee Campbell (5-9, Fr.), Makenna Lawson (5-7, Fr.), Gracin Riggs (5-8, Fr.), and Frankie Jo Hance (5-10, Fr.). Campbell is a long, athletic player coach Goins expects to develop into a guard/forward who can help the team this season.
