OFFENSE
Seven starters return on offense in 2022 for Jimmy Hudson as he embarks on his second year as head coach of the Fairland Owls. “Our offseason workouts have been good, and numbers are up,” Hudson said. “We look forward to putting new pieces with returning players this year and seeing how they mesh.” Boone Perryman (6-0, 180, Sr.) is one player to keep an eye out for. Last year he rushed for 450 yards and six touchdowns out of the backfield. After putting in time in the weight room he is looking forward to having a memorable final season for the Owls. Hudson wants to have a balanced offensive approach this season. “Every year offers different players with different strengths and weaknesses,” he said. “We try to adjust our system to fit the kids and put them in a position to succeed.”
DEFENSE
The Owls plan on running a 4-4 base defense headlined by defensive tackle and veteran leader, Jalen Riggs (6-2, 285, Sr.). In 2021 Riggs was a terror off the line, forcing double teams, and collecting 15 tackles, three for a loss, and two sacks. The Owls return seven defensive starters from last year’s squad and will look to limit big play opportunities and shrink the field. Keenan Webb and Ryan Woolard join Hudson on the Owls’ coaching staff.
